Sweetness in the air

Or en rivière...!!!

Been through some narrow places lately.  When I was younger I did not like adversity (not that I seek it out now) but I can appreciate now how it helps me see my need for God.  Not that my need for Him changes, but that circumstances help me feel the truth of who and what I am: without Him I can do nothing.

Its good for us created things to know this.  Its right for us to say it.  By definition being human means that we have lack.  We were created to love and worship God, and have the astonishing privilege of friendship with Him in deep, impacting ways.  Ponder this, if you would: to be fully human means to have Jesus at the center of your life.  Anything less is temporal, passing and is a fleeting mist in the broad scheme of God's world and the age to come.  You may ask: what about the millionaire who builds companies... or the leader of a nation and does not live this way?  The answer is the same: what is built without Jesus will not last.  Kingdoms rise and fall, only His will last.  And when the dust clears and we see Him as He is we will applaud Him and will not argue that some other way would have been better.

I've had a ton of project needs I've had to meet in recent weeks, but God is my help.  He woke me up early this week and showed me a way through a problem: *Bang* woke right up at 1:30 with clarity both on a technical issue and with a family need.  Its a thrill when God Most High does this; David wrote of this experience in Psalm 16:

I will praise the LORD, who counsels me;
       even at night my heart instructs me.
