Its hard to distinguish her in the picture, but above this is of Carol Cooper leading a devo at ZHOP this morning. The Cooper family is very special. They were a part of the worship/prayer teams I was leading locally in the years before Kirk led the crew from KC to Fort Mill.
It was right about 4 years ago we gathered some of our local gang and met at the Coopers' house to listen to Kirk's teaching on meditating on the scriptures. I had read through the material, thought it was right on track with what would help build our teams, and ordered it so that we could hear the CD of Kirk teaching the method and we could each have a copy of the meditation manual. Little did we know that within a year he would be living here. I've heard Kirk teach on meditation and still think its one of the most significant disciplines a follower of Christ can enter in to for interior growth and character formation.
Consider the word in Psalm 1:
1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
