I'm hooked

At reading my friend Kacie Watson's blog entry on the Vicky Beeching song (which I did not know) 'Above All Else' I sought out to hear it. Now I'm hooked and playing it on the guitar... what a wonderful song:

Jesus, my passion in life is to know You
May all other goals bow down to
This journey of loving You more

Jesus, You’ve showered Your goodness on me
Given Your gifts so freely
But there’s one thing I’m longing for
Hear my heart’s cry
And my prayer for this life:

Above all else
Above all else
Above all else
Give me Yourself

Savior, the more that I see Your beauty
The more that I glimpse Your glory
My heart is captured by You

Jesus, You are my greatest treasure
Nothing this world can offer
Could ever compare to You
So hear my heart's cry
And my prayer for this life:

Above all else
Above all else
Above all else
Give me Yourself

Scene on lost

Last night I got home in time to see the last 40 minutes or so of Lost. In part of the show Hugo and Jin-Soo find an old VW van in the jungle. Hugo is trying to get the vehicle to run (they found several cases of beer in the vehicle, BTW) and is frustrated that others (including Charlie and James who show up later) won't help him pursue his wish. Hugo walks away and sits down while James begins to drink the beer. At one point James begins to make fun of Hugo's pouting and tells him he should go to the International House of Pancakes (i.e. IHOP). Then he asks Hugo what he's doing while he's sitting off over at the edge of the jungle. Hugo replies (I'm not kiddding, Matthew and I both were amazed at this): "I'm praying". They ended up, BTW, pushing the vehicle down a steep embankment where Hugo was able to 'jump start' the van and they had a fun time tooling around in the van at the bottom of a valley.

Happy birthday

The Moravian church is 550 years old today.

For over five centuries the Moravian Church has proclaimed the gospel in all parts of the world. Its influence has far exceeded its numbers as it has cooperated with Christians on every continent and has been a visible part of the Body of Christ, the Church. Proud of its heritage and firm in its faith, the Moravian Church ministers to the needs of people wherever they are.

The name Moravian identifies the fact that this historic church had its origin in ancient Bohemia and Moravia in what is the present-day Czech Republic. In the mid-ninth century these countries converted to Christianity chiefly through the influence of two Greek Orthodox missionaries, Cyril and Methodius. They translated the Bible into the common language and introduced a national church ritual. In the centuries that followed, Bohemia and Moravia gradually fell under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Rome, but some of the Czech people protested.

H&B in Seattle

Last night Sam 'the man' Liu led a harp and bowl session at the Seattle Vineyard. Way to go, Sam! Check out his post here.

Internship update

Last night was an interesting session for ZHOP's EZ37 internship. I had the indubitable Jake Ferrell on tap to give an overview on Israel: its significance in regards to the bible and in regards to the end of the age. We started the class with annoucements and I could see he was primed: tanned, rested and ready to build up the Body of Christ in relating God's commitment to the sons of Abraham.

Kirk asked beforehand if he could have a few minutes to connect with the internship and communicate some things. In doing so it blossomed into an extended Q&A time and opportunity to discuss and interpret some revelation that has been coming to the interns. As that segment wound down, I heard the Lord say He wanted to minister to the interns in the prayer room. So I had to spontaneously announce a 'field trip' down the hall so we went in and soaked in God's Presence for a while. Then I had the interns begin to pray for each other for 10-15 minutes. After that I turned them loose to go and pray for strangers and staff that were in various parts of the room. It wasn't at all what I had planned on the front end, but as the evening wound down I looked around and saw the students praying everywhere over people and prophesying with patience and confidence. In my heart, I gave Jesus a high five... in my thoughts I told Him "You're such a good leader and teacher! I marvel at Your ways!"

Next week, Jake the Firestarter will be on deck again.
